The reunification of Hong Kong with China is a historic event which catches the eye of the world. The ASSOCIATION FOR CELEBRATION OF REUNIFICATOIN OF HONG KONG WITH CHINA is established by the resolution of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as a non-government organization to promote, coordinate and organize all kinds of activities in celebration of the event, with the aim of promoting an atmosp of joy and peace as Hong Kong is reunited with the Motherland.

The Chinese pink dolphin is specially chosen as the mascot for celebrating the reunification. The mascot and its design have been extensively used in relation to all kinds of celebration activities. The particular character of the Chinese pink dolphin, namely, the deep affection between mother and child, signifies the intimate relationship between Hong Kong and China , and the longing for reunification. In addition, the energetic Chinese pink dolphin stands for a vibrant Hong Kong with a bright future to come. The Association is pleased that OMAS has introduced a series of luxury writing instruments named ?OMAS 1997 Return to the Motherland Limited Edition? to commemorate this momentous occasion, and has granted an exclusive license to OMAS to use the mascot on its series of luxury writing instruments. After 150 years of the British Union Jack waving over Hong Kong , this influential territory returns to its Motherland , China . From a historic perspective, we cannot ignore the worldwide significance of this event. In recognition of this reunion, the governments of the two respective countries, Great Britain and China , have planned a series of memorial exhibitions. During this year, foreign dignitaries from around the globe will visit Hong Kong to attend the prestigious ceremony for the transferal of power. As of July 1, 1997 , the Pearl of the Orient, as Hong Kong is called, will face a new life and new economic system. The famous Nathan Road and the well-known floating houses of Aberdeen will come back under the sovereignty of Beijing . This re-engagement possesses its own complications considering Hong Kong , w the income of its inhabitants rank among the highest in the world, is the economic capital of the Far East . We are pleased to announce that OMAS has been authorized by the Association for Celebration of Reunification of Hong Kong with China to create a commemorative collection that with its designs and emblematic contents should be the true witness of his passage of authority. It is OMAS?s belief that the pens in this collection exude the importance and prestige that this great occasion deserves. The extraordinary care OMAS has taken with its design is the expression of an ancient and traditional mastery. These distinguished writing instruments (in either 18K gold or .925 sterling silver) show distinctive aspects of both Hong Kong and China . The cap was made to display treasured symbols of Hong Kong and China . The top is decorated with the Bauhinia flower encircled by the words, ?Return to the Motherland?, and enameled in the original red color of the Association?s official logo. The clip is embellished in the same hue by a thin linear element reminiscent of basic calligraphy. Fountains of water adorn its cylindrical surface which is elegantly patterned after the finest Chinese silk. The band around the cap synthesizes the Great Wall of China, one of the most recognized monuments on this earth, the OMAS logo emerging from one of the Wall?s majestic gates, and the 4 ideograms meaning ?Return to the Motherland? in Chinese. The barrel of the pen follows this theme of combining Hong Kong and Chinese motifs. Sculpted into the metal sheath of the barrel, two Chinese dragons, mother and child, allude to the relationship between Hong Kong and China and support the emblem of their unity, the pink Chinese dolphin...
