MONTBLANC: MARK TWAIN WRITERS SERIES LIMITED EDITION FOUNTAIN PEN 105635 - MEDIUM

In honor of this American author, the Limited Edition Mark Twain, with its wavy lines of deep blue precious resin worked in filigree, reflects the river that was both homeland and inspiration to the edition’s namesake: the Mississippi. The rhodium-coated Au 750 solid gold nib bears an engraving of two threads representing the nautical unit of length used for navigation on the Mississippi river steamers in the 19th century that inspired Mark Twain’s choice of nom de plume.

Montblanc have released a new pen honouring a celebrated American writer who gained world reputation with his work “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn” as well as paying tribute to his 100th anniversary, celebrating his life and achievements in 2010. It will be available to buy from Wheelers Luxury Gifts on 1st September 2010.

The design has been inspired by the area in which Mark Twain lived, the Southern States of America. The cap and barrel symbolise the shallow waves of the Mississippi in a deep blue colour, the cap top is reminiscent to the chimney of a Mississippi steamboat and the clip refers to a jaw’s harp, a typical musical instrument from that period. The nib has been delicately designed and is engraved with two sailor’s knots that have been used in former times as an indication for the depth under the keel of a sails boat.
