Description

Manufactured by Visconti in 2009 to celebrate the foundation of famous publishing house Vallecchi's magazine “LACERBA”, considered by many to be the quintessential “poster” of Futurism art. Many important artists like Severini, Boccioni, Marinetti and Picasso were featured in the Lacerba magazine. “Lacerba” was born in Florence on 1 January 1913.

This amazing pen attracts attention, fine work is fascinating, drawing in a futuristic collage long remain in the memory.
This is the third pen, created with the collaboration of the famous editor, designer and architect Valekki, and dedicated to him. Handle "1903" was created specifically to celebrate the anniversary of the founding "Vallecchi" (oldest publishing company in Italy). The decor of the pen used letters are typical of the historical period. Handle "1909" - in the decoration of the pen was presented a futuristic sculpture characteristic creativity Bokkioni. One of his sculptures is depicted on the coin of 20 Euro.

Handle "1913" is specially designed to mark the foundation "Lacerba" magazine, which is considered the "poster" Futurist art. Many famous artists such as Severini, Bokkioni, Marinetti and Picasso collaborated or their work has been published in this journal. "Lacerba" magazine was founded in Florence January 1, 1913.

"1913" is the dualism in the art of that period: a futuristic pattern engraved on the body of the handle in the technique "scrimshaw". The use of black and silver lines in the border of the cap in the style of Art Nuveau allows us to feel the atmosphere of that period. The body is decorated with engraved pens "La Danza Serpentina" (snake dance) - a reproduction of one of the works of Severini. To reproduce the picture Severini and cap was used to decorate ancient technique thread - "scrimshaw" (in this case, the thread on the metal and not on the resin in the decor of a handful of "Divine Comedy" or "Arte Modejar"). A feature of this technology is the use of copper alloy, sterling silver, lead and sulfur.

Features
  • The design of Lacerba reflects the dualism of that artistic period. Futuristic painting is engraved on the pen body with a “scrimshaw” technique, while sterling silver and black bands on the cap are inspired by the Art Nuoveau Period. On the body of the pen, the scrimshaw technique has been used to portray “La Danza Serpentina” from Severini. Severini’s painting as well as other design elements on the cap and barrel have been effected using the antique technique of scrimshaw on metal. With this technique the engravings are filled in with an alloy of copper, sterling silver, lead and sulphur. A limited edition series of 913 pieces. Long sold out.
