Tibaldi by Montegrappa Crewe Collection - Sterling Silver Fountain Pen

Limited Edition of 400

60 YEARS AT CREWE 1946-2006

To celebrate 60 years of production at the historic Crewe factory, Bentley Motors introduces its first ever limited edition pen collection and its first ever collaboration with TIBALDI, specialist makers of precious and technical writing instruments.

The first ever Crewe-built Bentley, the Mark VI, appeared in 1946. Today, Crewe is a flourishing site, unrivalled in its blend of craftsmanship and precision engineering. It fuses the latest technology with time-honored handiwork, the latter often passed down through generations of families who have worked for the company.

THE BENTLEY AESTHETIC

The etching and engraving known as knurling is well-known by Bentley drivers. Always found on functional handles and buttons such as indicators, media system controls and gear shifts, knurling ensures a secure grip. Knurling is echoed on all parts of the Bentley at Brooklands pen that require turning – such as the lid and the section. The sterling silver or solid white gold etched barrel of the pen bears the Sheffield Assay Office Bentley Hallmark.

TIBALDI NIBS

Tibaldi Bentley Brooklands Sterling Silver Fountain Pens are available with a wide choice of nib grades that suit any writing need – fine (F), medium (M), broad (B), double broad (BB), oblique medium (OM), oblique broad (OB) and stub nibs. Like the original TIBALDI nibs from the early 1900s, each one is engraved with the guarantee of first class writing instruments – 1ª Qualità, alongside the Bentley logo. Each nib has a two-tone appearance, having been crafted with solid 18 carat yellow gold and then covered in rhodium and ruthenium.

Naturally, gold pens are heavier to the touch than silver pens. Similarly, a roller ball is heavier than a fountain pen since it incorporates more metal where the fountain pen’s window displays the ink level.

TIBALDI A PEN OF DEVINE PROPORTIONS

Phi – the concept known as the Divine Proportion – informs every aspect of the structure of all TIBALDI pens. For example, the proportion between the pen’s cap and the visible portion of the barrel when the pen is closed equals the phi ratio, 1.618. Even the pen’s accompanying case is measured in multiples of the phi coefficient.
Phi has been used in art, architecture and music for centuries, often unintentionally. Aesthetically, phi is a symbol of perfect and natural beauty. It occurs constantly in nature, in the pattern of the skins of animals and fruits and the arrangement of leaves on trees.
