The Herringbone collection is based upon an original Durograph model from the 1920's.
The new owner of
Conklin has successfully adapted a classic vintage style to satisfy the
current trends of the 21st Century, combining modern materials with
traditional designs to create a stunning new collection.
Crafted out of
aircraft-grade aluminium, the caps and barrels are engraved with a
classic Herringbone pattern and then further coated with several layers
of translucent coloured acrylic and epoxy to protect the finish, and
ensure that the colours will not fade over time.
New technology was developed to retain the textured finish of the guilloche style of engraving.
The new Herringbone
Collection is available in a choice of six finishes from subtle shades
of Slate Grey to the bright colours of Golden Yellow and Sunset Orange.
The cap stopper is
engraved with the 'Conklin Est. 1898' logo, the clip features the
legendary 'Conklin' trademark name, and the cap band is engraved with
the Conklin 'C' with complimentary Conklin crescent style shapes.
The Herringbone
collection is offered in a choice of colours with complementary trim
finishes: Silver, Deep Blue, and Slate Blue are accented with chrome
trim and nib, while the Golden Yellow, Majestic Purple, and Sunrise
Orange are featured with a new highly polished black titanium-coated
steel cap stopper, clip and front section and nib.
The Conklin Herrinbone
collection is housed in a luxury gift presentation box lined with
luxurious satin. The perfect gift for yourself or a loved one.
Established in 1898, the Conklin Pen Company® founder Roy Conklin,
an innovator from Toledo, Ohio USA, is today regarded as one of the most
significant and innovative American writing instruments manufacturers
from the golden era of fountain pens.
Roy Conklin registered the
patent for the first working automatic filling mechanism in 1897 and is
recognized as creating one of the world’s first practical self-filling
fountain pen. The Crescent Filler™ soon proved to be a success
world-wide.
Thanks to Roy Conklin, owner and inventor, the
fountain pen was ultimately made more practical and convenient for the
public with his patented invention of the Crescent Filler™. The Crescent
Filler™ has a piece of metal shaped like a crescent moon, that extends
from the side of the pen, and was the key to a simple and easy
one-handed way to self-fill the pen with ink. The simple depression of
the crescent
engages the internal pressure bar to collapse the
built-in rubber sac. Releasing the crescent allows incoming ink to fill
the sac.
In 1903, Mark Twain, the legendary American author, expressed the virtues of this unique self-filling fountain pen.
After
becoming the official spokesman for The Conklin Pen Company®, Mark
Twain discovered yet another benefit to Conklin’s Crescent Filler™
stating, “Also, I prefer it because it is a profanity saver’ it cannot
roll off the desk”.
More than 115 years later, today’s Conklin
Pen Company® is striving to continue in the same spirit of bold
innovation, while still providing the highest quality available in fine
writing instruments throughout the world.
NEW CONKLIN HERRINGBONE BLUE W/ SILVER TRIM BALLPOINT PEN
COMES WITH BOX AND PAPERS.
The new Conklin Herringbone series combines the vintage appeal with modern bold style and elegance. The unique Herringbone pattern itself is achieved by using a very precise computerized engraving machine to cut the deep pattern on airplane-grade aluminum. This elegant pattern, reminiscent of the Conklin crescent shape, is seen underneath a special translucent colored acrylic and coated with several layers of epoxy for protection and brightness. The coin atop the cap touts a relief of the ?Conklin Est. 1898? logo. The back of the crown is engraved with the ?Herringbone? model name. The heavy chromium clip also is engraved with the legendary ?Conklin? trademarked name and font and the center ring is engraved with the Conklin ?C? surrounded by four Conklin crescent shapes on each side.
